thousand和thousandsof的用法有什么区别

thousand　千，前面要用具体数字，即　数字+thousand+名词复数

thousandsof+名词复数“数千……”表示笼统数字,即前面不能加具体数字。

如

1.Therearetwothousandstudentsintheirschool.

 他们学校有两千学生。

2.Therearethousandsofthousandstudentsintheirschool.

　他们学校有数千学生。

类似的用法还有：hundred（百）;million（百万）,billion（十亿）

即：

具体数字+hundred/million/billion+名词复数；

hundreds/millions/billionsof+名词复数。

如

1. Therearetwohundredbooksontheshelf.

   书架上有两百本书。

2. Therearehundredsofbooksintheroom.

    房间里有数百本书。
