it is helpful to do sth. 做……是有好处的

这两个都是it 做形式主语
helpful 是表示“有好处”，而不是“有助的”
下面这两个是“有帮助的”

sth. is helpful to sth./ doing sth. 前面的sth.一般是具体的某个事物，如the book is helpful to our improvement 当刚好变成it is helpful to sth.时，那个it是因为前面已经说了是什么东西，这里是代词it来指代同一个东西，其实归根到底还是sth. 后面那个doing sth.就是动名词来充当名词成分
