幸福的英文本应为“happiness”，但是电影名却是“happyness”，而且电影中幼儿园大门上也出错了。
电影The pursuit of happyness直译为“追求幸福”，这个短语源出自美国《独立宣言》：“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”（我们认为下面这些真理是不言而喻的：人人生而平等，造物者赋予他们若干不可剥夺的权利，其中包括生命权、自由权和追求幸福的权利。）。电影中，对于其中所说的“每个人都享有追求幸福的权利”这句话的最好解读莫过于电影中主人公看到幼儿园大门上的“Happyness”所说过的这句话： "There is no Y in happiness, it's an I" （幸福里面没有为什么，只有我）——当然，这是一个双关语，浅层是在说明大门上的“happyness”是错的；而更深层意思则通过谐音对于《独立宣言》那句话作了最好的注脚。
