anything but 从否定的角度看问题，all but 从肯定的角度看问题。具体用法如下：
anything but 只有一种用法。
anything 是不定代词，可充当表语或宾语，but只能用作否定连词，合起来表示“除…之外任何方面都会…”或“根本不”，如：
She is anything but a beauty. 她一点也不漂亮。
The problem is anything but easy. 这个问题绝不容易。
The actress' laugh in the play was anything but natural. 在那出戏中那个女演员笑得极不自然，
all but 有两种用法。
1、 共同构成副词短语，用来修饰动词，表示“差不多/几乎”，如：
She all but fainted when she heard the news. 听到那消息, 她差点晕过去。
The girl was all but crying with relief. 那个女孩子快乐地差一点大叫起来。
2、all 为不定代词，可充当表语或宾语，but用作连词，表示“除了…之外（都）”，如：
I knew them all but one. 除了一个我不认识之外，其余的人我都认识。（要不是有一个人例外的话，我差一点都认识）
Her birthday was unnoticed by all but herself. 除了她自己没人注意她的生日。（要不是她自己外差一点没人注意她的生日）
