TheMansionofConfuciusisthelivingquartersofthefirstgrandsonofConfucius，agreatphilosopher，educatorandafounderofConfucianism.ItisalsoknownasMasterYansheng’sMansionbecausein1055，orthesecondyearofthereignofSongEmperorZhaozhen，KongZongyuan，the46thgenerationmaledescendantofConfuciuswasgiventhetitle"MasterYansheng".ThetitlewaspasseddowntoKongDecheng，the77thgenerationmaledescendantofConfucius.
Withanareaof160，000squaremeters，themansionhasninecourtyardswith463roomsalongtheeast，westandmiddleroutes.Themainpartofthemansioncentersthehousesalongthemiddleroute.Thefirstfouryardscontainofficesandtheotherfiveserveasresidences.Attherearitisagarden.Themansionstoresmorethan9，000volumesoffilesfrom1534（the13thyearofthereignofMingEmperorJiaqing）to1948andgreatquantitiesofrareandpreciousculturalandhistoricalrelics.
TheTempleofConfuciusservedasaplaceforworshippingConfuciusinvariousdynasties.In478B.C.，thesecondyearafterConfucius’death，theruleroftheStateofLuconvertedConfucius’formerresidence，thethree－roommansion，intoatempleandmadeitaplaceforworshippingConfucius.ThetemplewasconstantlyrenovatedandexpandedtoitspresentsizebyemperorsoftheWesternHanDynastyandthefollowinghistoricalperiods.Itcoversanareaof218，000squaremetersandis1，120metersinlengthfromsouthtonorth.Thereareninecourtyardsand466roomsalongthreeroutesintheleft，rightandmiddle.Thetemplehasanouterwall，withfourcornertowers，whichsheltersancientpines.ThemainbuildingsalongthemiddlerouteareKuiwenPavilion，ThirteenStelePavilion，XingtanPavilion，DachengHall，HallofConfucius’WifeandShengjiHall.DachengHallstandsoutandisthemainhallwhereConfuciuswasworshipped.
Thetemplehousessome2，000tabletsdatingfromtheWesternHanDynastyrightuptothefoundingofNewChina.Theyareoneofthelargestcollectionsoftabletsinthecountry.TherearenowthreeexhibitionhallsdisplayingtabletsfromtheHandynastyandSixKingdomsofWei，stonestatuesfromtheHanDynastyandcalligraphiccarvingsonYuhongloutablets.The17tabletsofHanDynastyarethelargestcollectioninthecountryintermofquantityreservedinoneplace.
TheCemeteryofConfuciusisabout1.5kilometersnorthofQufuandistheConfuciusfamilycemetery.Ittakesup1.998millionsquaremetersandarounditthereisaseven－kilometer－longhedge.Thepavilions，towers，hallsandarchwaysbuiltinvarioushistoricalperiodsaresetinaforest.BehindtheZhushuiBridgeisthegraveyard，datingfromtheEasternZhou，whichhousesthetombofConfucius，thetombsofhissonKongLiandgrandsonKongJi.ThetombofConfuciusis6.2metershighandhasacircumferenceof88meters
