外国诗歌发展史概貌
第一阶段：远古时期（前40世纪至5世纪）古埃慎烂及，古巴比伦。
第二阶段：古希亏孝棚腊、罗马时期（前8世纪至公元5世纪）。
第三阶段：中世纪（5至15世纪），亦可称圣经诗歌时期。
第四阶段：文艺复兴时期（14至16世纪），伟大诗人有英国的莎土比亚、意大利的彼得拉克等。
第五阶段：古典主义时期，（17至18世纪），有弥尔顿、伏尔泰等历史名人。
第六阶段：浪漫主义（18至19世纪），诗歌群星璀璨，俊采风流。德国有歌德；英国有布莱克、彭斯，有湖畔派华兹华斯、柯勒律治、骚塞及雪莱、拜伦、济慈三个少年天才；法国有雨果；俄国有普希金；美国惠特曼；匈牙利有裴多菲、等等。
第七阶段：唯美主义、象征主义、意象派超现实主义、先锋派各种风格的诗层出不穷，东销则西方碰撞、交流，融合已近百年，流风所及，以至于今。
