期刊的缩写是有惯例的，如，名字只有一个单词的期刊不缩写。像Nature，Science，Cell，Small，Nanotechnology，这种一个词的期刊引用时候都要写全称。在多个单词的期刊里，单词如何缩写也是都有相应标准的。像 Journal这个词缩写成J.，Science这个词缩写成Sci.，Chemistry缩写成Chem.，Material缩写成Mater.等等（注意缩写要有“点”的哟）。
按照这个惯例，则自然子刊的第一个词Nature是可以缩写成Nat.的，因为符合缩写习惯。我特意上了Nature官网，挨个看了这些期刊的缩写规定。发现这个问题比我想象的要复杂。

总结一下大体上规律是这样的：Nature子刊里面内容覆盖某一个一级学科的（如：化学、物理学、材料学，地学等），缩写用Nature XXX，其余缩写为Nat. XXX。
